About the Artist

Axel Jochum, born May 31st, 1950, studied medicine in Basel with specialized education in psychiatry and psychotherapy. Axel began his art courses in the 80s with watercolor then quickly found an affinity for oil paints taking courses from Pat Portenier in the Basel school of Arts, which is still his favourite medium today. In the 90s he continued taking courses in figure and object painting. While always maintaining his passion for the arts as a way of expression, Axel actively dove back into painting in recent years.
